What is it?

Well .. duh .. it's an Android powered phone.

I got my Desire a little while ago when the contract for my Sony Ericsson C902 expired. I can't imagine that I'd ever go back to a non-Android phone now - it's that good.

Bypassing 3's annoying "adult content" filter

My Desire is on a contract with "three" (Hutchinson 3G) in the UK. My tariff means that sites which are deemed "adult", which in reality covers a multitude of sins and a number of websites that are not strictly adult oriented, are blocked or, to use three's terminology, "fitered". three provide a PIN service to, allegedly, unblock the blocks, but it doesn't work properly. I spent quite a while on two phone calls to three in an attempt to convince them to remove the blocks, but without any joy. Their attitude is that the blocks are there to protect me .. form what, I'm not sure. Anyway, I was able to get some useful information out of them, and it appears that they have different blocks for different tariffs, and some googling revealed that they may have different filters on different APNs. So, I added a new APN like so ..

Wireless + networks Mobile networks Access Point Names
Wireless + networks Mobile networks Access Point Names

Menu / New APN Name: 3internet / APN: 3internet / Menu / Save Select 3internet
Menu
New APN
Name: 3internet
APN: 3internet
Menu
Save
Select

.. and this may have cured the issue.
